Standard Springs and adjustable Koni shox on my 90 , big improvement in the ride quality.
Don't under estimate the quality of the standard springs, unless you need a lift or want heavy duty , I would save my money on the springs and put it towards a good set of shox..... Koni or Bilsteins for me. Only negative I found with the Koni shox is the rubber bushes not wearing very well but thats any easy fix . N. |

i agree with nidge.
i had konis (lowered by 1 inch) on my 300 Tdi 90 Hardtop and it is the best handling land rover i have ever had (owned 11). I still enjoy driving it even with my 110 puma on the driveway! i have only had to replace one shock in the 12 years of ownership when it sheared at the eye. it was regularly taken green laning and always did the intermedeiate course at Eastnor. not experienced the other shocks but highly rate koni |

another vote for Koni Heavy Tracks. i don't tend to run heavy loads and they are still great. BM52

Ive found that none genuine springs start well but dont last as long.
Genuine springs (heavy duty or not) and good quality shocks. Mike |

got to be koni heavy tracks, adjustable and come with a 2 year warrenty

How do you adjust the Koni's? Do you have to remove them or can it be altered on the vehicle?

have a look at the Koni web site re adjustment, quite easy.
the rears can be adjusted by undoing the bottom and the fronts [not tried it] but i think if you undid the bottom and the turret ring you can pull them out quite easily. i'd be interested in your chosen setting. i run mine on the factory setting which is the softest. BM52 |

i beleive mine are set to medium which i was told is the std, but they give a nice firm ride on the road and seem to take everything offroad whilst retaining reasonable comfort

I have tried various damper types when setting up my Td5 90 for fast road use, prior to the HBE kit being made. I use Bilstein on everything as they are good value, last well, and give an outstanding ride quality.
I've never been a fan of adjustable dampers being used by joe average, as it can be potentially dangerous to tweak them yourself, upsetting the balance of the vehicle. Bilsteins come with a fixed rate, which is in my opinion, just right. |
