after several times of using two stroke oil in my fuel. I never heard of my EGR self cleaning sound after engine shutdown...
Does anyone using 2 stroke has the same experience or something wrong with my EGR? Thanks in advance. |

I have been using 2SO since truck was new and I always hear the EGR self-cleaning cycle. --

Mine is much quieter after using 2so, also it needs the occasional tap with a stick, but thats the internal contacts on mine.........
If its stuck your MIL will illuminate as well. |

Three years on and mine can be heard self cleaning. Always did from new. It is probably designed to do this whether it needs to or not to stop deposits building up. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Thanks guys for the swift replies. my engine is running stronger & smoother with 2SO but the only missing is egr cleaning sound. ickle is right if I have problem with my EGR I should get a MIL light. Maybe, all of my exhaust system are clean that doesn't need cleaning

Is that why adding 2SO to a TD makes it run quieter & more smoothly? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

My EGR valve is noisy when cleaning (like all Defenders and Transits seem to be). My main dealer commented not long ago that the valve was noisy and asked to replace it (I said no, since it has not got any noisier in the last year/30k miles), but he then said that there are now specific fuel additives intended to lubricate the EGR valve. He didn't say what, though.
I also run with 2SO and it does seem to make everything run more smoothly. I haven't noticed any difference on the EGR valve however. |

Course not. Engine oil needs to be replaced more often. Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

Apparently some EGRs are seldom stuck (cuasing no problem at all) and some get fully open or closed (MIL should shout). IMHO I would not worry about the MIL. Puma 110" SW
