Driving 475 miles today back from Scotland to Essex I couldn’t get any air to come in to the cab without the fan on? I’m sure that when the slider was over to the right fresh air from outside was sent in to the cab? Am I going g mad? Is it a common fault? Can anyone shed any light on how to fix it?

Could be that it has stuck in recirculation mode. You should here the flaps move when you shift your circled lever to the left.
Try sliding the lever left/right a few times. |

Just tried that and can’t hear the flap opening and closing? Is it a dash out job? 2010 Defender 90 HT

Might be worth checking your bowden cable from the control lever is still connected and moving the lever on the blower unit;
Click image to enlarge Mine personally got a kink in the stranded bit and if I pushed it too far towards recirculate it popped the hooped end off the lever. Edit: Just read that you can'y hear the flap working, so I'll expand a little. I didn't need to take the dash out, just unbolting the centre bit housing the radio and all the buttons etc so I could reach in, combining that with reaching up (which means you can only just touch the end of the blower lever. I will warn you though. It was bloody fiddly Let me know if you need more help and I'll try take a few pictures if my descriptions aren't any good |

Hello all and Happy New Year.
I'm having a similar issue with this part. When I put the selector to the right to open the vent it just bounces back. If you move the flap from the lever (2) however it's a bit stiff but it switches over and the selector stays in position. Could it be as simple as a loose/snagged cable? Or do I need to replace it altogether? If the latter, what is the part number for this thing! I can't find it anywhere! Also, in the manual it says there should be two cables. This is getting tricky... Click image to enlarge 110 SW 2.4 IZUMI BLUE |
