Click image to enlarge Do you remember when we were at school we used to use tracing paper to copy drawings, did LR to the same then plonk the rendering on top of a D5 floor pan. And the next question, which one would you have.......... |

I like it, looks like a better looking D4. Not been over on the sister D3/D4 site yet this is what in my opinion people wanted the D5 to look like, more utility and boxy, less show pony.
I agreed with Blackwolf, best looking model released in a long time from LR if you like a boxy no frills vehicle. Which I do. |

Just picked up on the 007 new Defender photo...I think I love my Wolf & 90 XS just a little bit more today.
Truly horrific... Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains |

I just don’t get why they couldn’t make it similar looking to the original. I just keep looking at the g wagon, wrangler and the new jimmy. They’ve got all of those through the safety and emissions stuff and they all look great. Mercedes and Jeep knows what the heritage of those products mean to their fan and customer base. I just don’t get how Land Rover could just entirely throw away one of the most iconic vehicles ever made, why could they not evolve it for ease of manufacturing, safety, engines, luxury and toys etc like the other brands have managed.
I’m just hoping Suzuki see the gap in the market for the ‘Jimny XL’ and make it exactly the same, just the size of a 90 with van options. Starting at £25k |

Yup. After all the hopes and fears it tuns out to be another corporate variation of the the theme. I bet it will sell well but I cant help feeling disappointed Stil on the bright side I love my 110 and I could have easily gone for something with more comfort but I doubt it would have had the same smiles per mile. 2010 XS USW

So c'mon, be honest, how many existing Series/Defender owners will wave back when they get the usual nod, finger raise etc from the proud owner of a '20' plated Defender (or whatever the thing is going to be called)? Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains

For £55,000 I reckon a 110 XS equivalent will cost I would rather have a second hand full fat RR and keep my 110
I've also seen a few more Suzuki Jimny's around, they look great |

Thinking of my age (old.... ) the rapid development of electric vehicles and conversions here is a thought. In 10 years time that 2020 Defender will probably be outdated and replaced by an electric version. My 2010 USW will be ripe for an electric conversion and something to hand on to my kids. That sounds a whole lot more sustainable in my book. In the meantime I will look after my Defender enjoy it and I think be genuinely caretaking it ready to hand on. Not many cars can have such a positive future surely? 2010 XS USW

Even the Defender looks disappointed! I know the old one sometimes suffered from droopy wings, but this one has a droopy face! |

I would give them wave and if I saw one parked up and ask to have a good look at it.
Things change in life and whilst we may well prefer our defenders to the new one, none of us has been in it or seen it and are just passing comment based upon speculation and fuzzy photos, whilst I appreciate everyone is entitled to their views and opinions it will be interesting to see if those who are critical of it now perhaps change their minds in the future. 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

Of course I’d return the wave.
Although I’d also check if I have full beam on or if there is something up with my Landy . Which is more likely. |

Well, I have to say what an incredible and amazing disappointment? I'm still an avid Defender fan (even though I have a Jimny!) and decided against the Wrangler because of its stupid price. I held out a slight hope that JLR would bring forth a stunning new Defender and at a sensible price. I've already given up on the price bit, and now this! I'm a bit stunned. I was hoping that the mule video/pics were fake. Why has this effort taken so long? I could have designed that! Seriously, I think JLR is in trouble. I think the new Defender is a kind of make-or-break vehicle for them, and this simply isn't special enough. Jeep have produced a great Wrangler (but still don't understand economics) and Ford are rumoured to be on the verge of a leisure 4x4, so JLR really needed to pull the stops out on this one.
It's just...so boring!!! Come on, let's be honest, the DC100 was far better than this! I'm just blown away by how standard and dull it is. It has NOTHING going for it - they didn't even keep the rising roof line. I admit it's what the D5 should have been, but a Defender for the 2020s it simply isn't. Jesus! Now left. |

Put it this way, if they had 100000 orders per year they would have quadrupled the factory. Slovakia has big production capability and LR can now produce 900000 vehicles annually I would say not mass market but discerning capable 4x4 buyer |
