2016 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Santorini Black
[quote="redneckwilly"]Rolling Eyes To be honest, the old defender is closer in looks and performance to that old Charger, so I am not sure what your point is. I think we all can agree that the new Defender's design is a piece of artwork, inside and out, coupled with modern technology and superior performance. If all someone cares about is boxy looks there are plenty of other vehicles to choose from, new and used.

Big Cry We all understand that the haters reaction to the new defender is based on emotion and not rational thought. That is ok. The venting is good from a psychological standpoint. And it's often entertaining. Those with an open mind realize the new Defender is a great machine. The unbiased, professional reviews online are overwhelmingly positive. And even those who had negative thoughts initially have changed their mind. Nope

I am sure we all wish JLR the best of luck with this new world class beast of a truck! Nope

i’ve driven three different specs, had a half day with one and three LR experience days in them. Still haven’t changed my mind. It’s not the vehicle I wanted it to be and doesn’t look like I expected it to look. Both are a personal view and from personal experience. I think JLR have frittered away the strong brand they once had and I don’t wish them well. I am aggrieved in how they have managed to do that in 10yrs. 1951 80" S1 2.0

How utterly bizarre.
If you don’t like the New Defender, fine - each to their own. If you don’t like the directions LR is heading, then that’s fine too. Then don’t buy their products. But to say you don’t wish Land Rover well - with their new Defender (or just generally) and therefore by definition don’t hope they continue to have a long and successful future as a 4x4 vehicle manufacturer is outrageous. I consider that to be a childish and selfish attitude. What about all those people who are employed by the company and it’s suppliers not to mention the many 100’s of 1000’s of people who love their products.
I don’t like the way VW chose to replace the Classic Beetle I’ve owned for many years, or the direction several other manufacturers for that matter have chosen to go in at times, but never once have I not wished them well as vehicle manufacturers!! Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Since when has the beauty in Art ever been anything more than a subjective viewpoint! Who are you to tell someone else what is and is not art? Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Well folks, it’s here, they have been on sale for a few months and I doubt very much no matter how many “anti” posts there are in this forum that JLR will be considering a redesign in the next 3-5 years so you’d better just live with it, like it or not. I don;t see folks posting in the other sections about how noisy, harshly suspended, unreliable, leaky or uncomfortable the “Land Rover” was.
It would be nice for those considering helping to keep JLR in business by buying a new car from them and coming to this forum don’t get put off because then there will be nothing for any LR enthusiasts regardless of which model it is and I have heard the same things repeatEd ad infinitum about Discovery 1, Discovery 3, Freelander, L322 FFRR, RRS, Evoque and Discovery 5 over the years and it’s all starting to sound rather like the gramophone needle has got stuck............ just get over it and let this part of the forum return to being a discussion of problems and fixes, tips and hints for L663 Defender users.

We hear you that it doesn’t look like the old Defender. old Defender has been killed off, it reached the end of the line and fell off it, it is dead, nailed to the perch, it’s plumage is fading, gone and it isn’t going to come back in the form you would like it to.

Even the Grenadier is now starting to get flack for not looking enough like an old Land Rover.......... For sure if you buy a Bronco or a Wrangler that won’t look like a Defender1 either and neither really looks like the vehicleS that started it all Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Listen, I think the new Defender is great. Not sure if you are old enough to drive, but I am guessing you don't own a new Defender, but like to badmouth it anyway. I don't own an old Defender but I don't go over the the old Defender forums and insult it. But if it makes you feel good, then go for it. If you are jealous or can't afford a new one, I can't do much to help. If you set up a gofundme, I might toss a few bucks your way. All of your anger over a car you don't even own is not good for you health. The stress is enough to make a persons hair fall out.

I think I will take a cruise in my new 110, a true work of art and high performance machine...the highest performance! Thumbs Up

There is a world of difference between "not wishing Landrover well" and "wishing that Landrover fails completely".

I assume that you therefore think that ramblers, Extinction Rebellion, and all others intolerant of large diesel-powered 4x4s are by definition "childish and selfish" too. Rolling with laughter

Well I wouldn’t expect ramblers or members of extinction rebellion to own a Classic Defender, so there is no double standard going on there is there! Mr. Green Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Ah, so only only owners of classic Defenders have to wish Landrover well or face being childish and selfish.

It's about time that folk grew up and realised that people don't have to be polarised into "haters" or whatever the opposite is, sycophants perhaps, of the new Defender, and that the views of others should be respected without insults even if they are different.

I reserve absolutely the right to be hugely disappointed in the new Defender for all the reasons I have stated, and my views deserve no less and no more respect that the people who think it is the best thing ever. I won't insult those people for liking the new one, and in return I don't expect to be described as a hater, or childish or selfish for having a different view.

Time was when this forum was tolerant and mature, it is a shame that the new Defender has proved so divisive .

To not wish Land Rover well because they didn’t produce the Defender replacement that some people wanted is childish. That’s all there is too it Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

No, it isn't. To wish Landrover I'll probably would be, but to be utterly ambivalent is not.
