I cheekily banged in the reg from one of the press test vehicles into the JLR website to get a service plan quote. Starting with 2000 miles now and an estimated 10k miles per year. Here's the result :

At 20k miles a year, it's the same price, but the services only cover 3 years.

So across three services, it comes out at just over £700 a time Sad Absolute nonsense when you look at the details on each of the three services :

Looks like business as usual then!!!

The last one I bought it was a £600 lump sum, I think it was the D4. These new ones aren’t worth it in my eyes, just stick £50 away a month by the time first service comes there’s £1200.

. Just look at the flack that Jeep are now getting for the issues around the current Wrangler in terms of accident and passenger safety. Don’t be surprised if the current Wrangler has a big overhaul next, and the purists will go ‘all Defender’ over it

I agree, the latest generation Wrangler may not be the best in terms of accident and passenger safety, but I feel a lot safer in it than I ever did in the 110. At least it has an integrated roll cage and driver/passenger air bags. In a roll over, I know which I would rather be in !! The Euro spec versions do come with an obscenely large front bumper to assist with pedestrian impact as well, which must fare better in the collision tests than the US versions. Until Grenadier hits the streets, it is the closest "off the shelf vehicle" in my opinion to old Defender.

I couldn't compete with the 5yr Disco 4 service plans, even if I owned the car myself Shocked

The new service plans though, are just paying an inflated price over 2yrs for a sub standard service Rolling Eyes

Three year warranty just is not good enough considering the price of the car. I remember I got a one year warranty on my 90 turbo diesel I bought in 1990! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Agree. 3 years in this day and age is pretty poor, especially with the likes of Kia offering 7.

It would have been great to see a 5 year warranty on the defender and a good sell point. If the quality of my current car is anything to go by they are much better built coming out of the Europe factory than any of my British built land rovers I have owned there really is a notable shift which will hopefully filter through into land rovers reputation in years to come.

No expert in how it works but I guess the challenge with warranty is it needs underwriting in some way which could be a hurdle for Land Rover. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Toyota has 3 years and 5 years on engine/drive train. Which one would I buy, Toyota with shorter warranty, or Kia with longer warranty? I would choose To... change my mind, I choose a Defender, preferably pre 2007 with an expired warranty ;o) 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

In South Africa all new Land Rovers come with a 5 year / 100,000km warranty.

The review was good enough, I’ve subscribed anyway.
