Can we (most of us) agree that this isn't the new Defender? It's the new Freelander, surely? Will someone be putting up a poll on here? Now left.

I've been all over the new Defender configurator, but I can't seem to find the option to add in the following:-
Leaking water in the footwell - get that genuine land rover feeling as the split rubber seal lets water in when driving through rain Vibrating steering wheel of death - experience the full benefit of Land Rover engineering by going over 70mph and having the steering wheel vibrate so much you believe the wheels must have fallen off Where's my Defender? - hi-spec keyless entry means that theives don't even have to undo door bolts to get into your vehicle and take it away. Any other options you'd like to see? |

Some funny quips from the comments section of a broadsheet. Excuse me if these ‘belong’ to anyone on here
“Most of them will be bough by people who think "the great outdoors" is the gardening section at B&Q.” “Don't knock the gardening section at B&Q. Cheap plants. People buying this won't do gardening. Their main outdoor activity will be sitting outside the pub watching how many people admire their new vehicle.” “For Islington mothers to do school runs and load up with Xanax” “Land Rover now makes 7 models and the biggest difference between them, so far as I can see, is how squishy the carpets are.” “Don't know who this vehicle is aimed at. Seems to be for people who imagine they will make an expedition across unmapped wastes but in reality drive up the motorway to Scotland and head to the tarmac roads of the North 500.” “what a useless ugly thing. clearly designed for the far east. original was an inferior US jeep. should be called the land rover brexit” “Jim Radcliffe will be very happy today.” “If you can whack it with a hammer from opposite directions or beat out dents with a lump hammer and it still functions and looks ok, it'd be car it should be.” “If you cant, i hope there's a handbag pocket.” “ENOUGH ! ...with the incomprehensible foreign measurements!” “We'd understand inches, horsepower, and feet.” “Perfect, that’ll preserve my ‘13 plate Defender’s value for years...” “The brand is strongly British. Making this car in Eastern Europe is p-ing in the soup.” “No wonder they kept it under wraps for so long” “I had hoped that it was going to be a more basic vehicle like my old Series III. Where you could see what was wrong with it and bash the appropriate part with a hammer. With an imperial hammer too - none of this metric stuff “ “Just the job for the school run and the Tesco safari.” “If this is anything like 'British Institution' i.e. the NHS, British Democracy, British rail transportation, it must be a real piece of crap” “Looks like a Playmobil toy...” Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

That is a lot of money for a Freelander 1. Is it sharing the same platform and engine as the current Disco? |

Thank you, I missed that on the Configurator, I think I was overwhelmed by verticality! Good news for Vegans needing a tough vehicle for the Tesco Avocado Safari! I also missed the traditional adjustable hitch, which I am pretty sure doesn't feature on the Configurator (probably too manly). Does anyone know if it has a proper centre diff, or is it a Haldex unit? |

Have they galvanised the chassis, this time round??
It's out of my price range, and to be honest, I'm not sure even if I had the money, it's not what I would purchase. I think I would buy a D5 or a Velar perhaps? As has been said in this thread previously, by many, I am not who JLR are pitching this vehicle to? I haven't followed many of the threads on the new Defender, until today, but I have to say, some of the comments on here are really funny and I'm finding the conversation really entertaining. It does seem to be a very marmite design. For what it's worth, I like the look of the new 110, I am not keen on the look of the 90 (which is the exact opposite to how I feel about the 'old' Defender - even though I bought a 110, I love the look of the 90). I just don't think it looks enough like the old Defender which I think is a real shame. |
