How bad is the fuse box? Pictures are always good. I had a G4 TD5 that had been on both trips, including across the salt flats. The fuse box on that was a bit on the crusty side. An hour or so cleaning up and it was fine.

Sounds very similar to a problem I had a few months back. I was recommended to install immobiliser bypass which cured the problem completely. Was easy to install as well just drill out the rivets, pry the box open and plug the bypass in. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

It’s been a while but my 300 TDi has been starting fine ever since we had the hot weather this summer. So I am wondering if it’s damp related. Any one else had a starting issue disappear since we had the hot weather?

Your problem is most likely the fuse box corrosion as you’ve discovered.
