Should I weld half shafts to drive flange?
After a whopping 50k, the splines on my rear half shafts and drive flange are knackered. Paddock sell and integrated unit, so would it be daft if me just to weld them together to achieve the same result? The alternate is the genuine LR part at £200+ and given the short life of the original that seems pointless. Non OEM ones are more appropriately priced, so this would be the fallback.

Any thoughts?

This was discussed a couple of weeks ago and the consensus was that unless you're a very good welder, you won't get the penetration needed to make a decent job of it.

I've just fitted genuine one piece shafts to mine and they have made a real difference. I did manage to pick them up for a very good price, though. Darren

Cheers, I have a good mate that is a coded tig welder, so comfortable getting the quality. I guess my other concern is that this is essentially the sacrificial part, so if I make it solid am I not going to make the diff end the sacrificial section?

No. It's only sacrificial because it's not lubricated, which doesn't apply at the other end. Darren
