Spraying log sliders
I want to paint the sliders so was intent on removing them, quick rub down, undercoat and a can of top coat gloss spray. Is it as simple as that or do I need special spray? What should I do with the surface rust...will it need treating? Thanks for any tips.

Are we talking about rock/tree sliders? If so they are probably powder coated, which makes a DIY repair tricky. Powder coat is horrible stuff to remove. What sort of condition are they in? If it is powder coat, they’d likely need stripping or blasting really to get a lasting repair done. I understand you can burn it off too.

However, if they are wet painted and not too bad, you can do what you suggest. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

If you are restarting them then I would recommended truck bed liner spray - much tougher for this kind of application.

Speak to Buzzweld they do a huge range of products. Probably suggest RCP rust killing primer followed by Raptor, but speak to them they're the experts. James

If they're powder coated, go over them with a flap wheel in a grinder. That'll remove and loose stuff and rust and rough up any sound powder coat. Then you can spray them up with stone chip and a Shultz gun, it gives a textured finish so hides all the imperfections. If you want it glossy then you can go over the stone chip with a gloss paint in what ever colour you like.

I raptored mine but I think I under estimated how tough the powdercoating was, I should've keyed it with lower grit/rougher sandpaper as so has flaked off, only few&small patches... i'm waiting for a warm day and ill tidy it up. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW
