Bit of a clean up of the 110...
Not often Defenders get much cleaning attention but after Waxoyling the underside of mine (rather fun and has worked a treat!) and then did the usual snowfoam, wash, dry, polish.

Bilberry works very well on the chequer plate!

Obligatory snow foam shot:

Looks lovely!! Can i ask what you are using to polish the defender? i.e. what substance and by hand or machine? Want to try and get the paintwork on mine back up to scratch!

Cheers

Hazza - nothing special, just Zaino Z5 Pro and microfibre towels.

I also have some GTechniq P1 for any swirls/scratches which works pretty well too.

I do have a fairly basic rotary polisher (Halfords - about £40) which I use for the boat - might well try it on the Landy as it does take ages to polish the whole thing!

Oh and thanks! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Hazza - it might make you cringe but www.detailingworld.com is very handy for advice on products and techniques. Some are painfully anal but most admit they have a wee bit of OCD and are pretty helpful! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

i've seen that site before, find it a little terrifying the lengths some people go to!

Cheers

Reckon the basics aren't too pricey. Some go mad and pay £100s just for wax!

Just need a few microfibre towels (BRILLIANT things!)
Wash mitt (sponges hold too much grit)
Car soap (any stuff will do)
A half decent polish/wax - Z5 is handy because it does both jobs in one go and smells lush. Leaves a mirror finish, easy to apply and remove and really does protect the paintwork.

I use Bilberry (again not pricey) on the wheels and chequer plate as well as a wheel brush.

Nice to have a decent Pressure Washer (Nilfisk E140 in my case) and snow foam lance and fluid but a hose with a Hozelok spray gun is good enough.

I gave up sealing the wheels as Boost alloys are made of porous cheese but Planet Polish Wheel Seal & Shine is excellent on the BM and cheap too.

And that's it really. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Actually a union jack, thanks for the compliment! I'm really happy with it, it does need to be redone though in a blue that matches the body!

mine is vinyl wrap! Got it off ebay, a guy who does mini ones and did mine as a one off! Tbh you are probably better off just spray painting it. Fitting the vinyl was a NIGHTMARE!!
