Yeti - any pics?
Our BM is sapphire black and I am near OCD with it! Looks great when done but a bu66er to keep it that way! Like the "one of my businesses" line you dropped in there Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

ha ha - not an advert mate...just trying to explain why anyone in their right mind would machine polish a Defender!
Pics will follow, I need to finish the job off and the weather is not helping at the moment. Still got the rear end to do. OCD is a strange term. My daily driver - the Defender - is polished but is unlikely to be done again for a few years...just maintained and topped up with sealants and waxes etc. My show car...now that is a case of OCD I'm afraid. She's won a few Concours titles in her time but is clayed, iron-x'd, cleansed you name it...very regularly. Sad really...but I enjoy it. Cheers She's not old...just older |

Yeti - similar here. The 110 got well cleaned and polished to protect it not to blind people with it's shinyness; it's now covered in crud again after 60 very rural and wet miles yesterday!
The BM however has recently had the full works and has always been very well cleaned and shined. I just keep adding more products to help get it cleaner! Clay, Zaino, snow foam, wheel sealant, etc, etc! Does look nice when done though but definitely not a show winner like yours! Click image to enlarge What is the show car BTW? I have a feeling it's going to make my BM look very very lame...!! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

My neighbour has recently bought a new SAAB and he cleans it every 3 days! I thought he had a bit of a problem but when I get mine I will be going around it touching up small screws etc with grease/wax or something BUT I will also enjoy doing it
I saw a SAAB years ago that had only done a few thousand miles and it was about 14 years old and was absolutely mint - the owner had touched everything up with a little brush and changed all the fluids every year despite hardly doing any miles. I believe it is in a private collection now. Some will think it's crazy but it's good that a few are preserved for posterity or at least will be around for practical use for a good while! |

My first car, a hideous 1973 Marina in beige was in near showroom nick when I got it. The car was 23 years old yet all the chrome gleamed and it was mark free - sadly it was mechanically a POS and got written off 4 days after I sold it for £100 to my cousin!
Anyone noticed that Saabs used to be driven by placid architects and are now often piloted my raging reps who tailgate everyone? Seen a few aggro Vauxhalls... I mean Saabs recently. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

Yes unfortunately GM SAABs are not like they used to be just another Euro box I have a 95 which has to be the most boring car, it does it's job well apart from the handling but i have no interest in it at all. The real advantage with them was the massive depreciation a couple of years ago when the company was on shaky ground. Mine was 27K new and I got it for £4300 when it was 4 years old and we will drive it into the ground over the next 8 years as we did with the previous 9000 - cheapest motoring you can get!
My SAAB 2 Stroke is GM free |

Looking at your signature....have you got room for another one?! I've thought about changing mine a couple of times but nothing VAG has done since the 25th Anniversary has floated my boat to be honest. The Mk4 R32 was stunning but is just as old.... They're nice cars and despite having owned Porsches, S3s etc...it's still the one I'm really glad I kept hold of. Cheers She's not old...just older |

Room is becoming an issue. The only substitute for me (as I need a diesel for work) is the new golf gtd, 170 gttd scirocco or BMW d3 Alpinia but none feel a special as the golf anniversary Formerly mao99999 16 Focus RS Nitrous Blue. 11 FFRR TDV8 Vouge SE Black Black. 08 DEFENDER SVX SOFT TOP (SUPERB) 08 DEFENDER 110 DCPU Stornoway grey (Overland Exploration Unit) 05 Fiesta ST 150 Van 04 Jaguar XKR 4.2 Supercharged V8 02 DEFENDER 90 TD5 (next years soft top project) 95 DEFENDER 110 CSW 300 TDi Phoenix black 95 DEFENDER 90 HT Monti Carlo blue COUNTY 300 TDi 67 109" SERIES 2a TUNED 200 TDI 64 DAVID BROWN 990 rat look 55 86" SERIES 1 |

Yeti - had this for just over a year from 5 months old...
Liked it a lot. The BM is a fair bit quicker and handles better but lacks that lovely V6 soundtrack! Zagato - old Saabs are lovely. But newer ones, just like Alfas, have gone all pear shaped and are bascially Vauxhalls in a tarts dress. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

I took your recomendation and used the bilberry wheel cleaner, that stuff is excellent!
My wheels were scruffy, autoglym and turtlewax stuff never got it off, used bilberry and wow, clean wheels. Got it from roll up and shine, excellent chaps with free local delivery to suit (if you live in north notts / s yorks) works out cheeper than autoglym too as you dilute it down in a trigger spray bottle. Snow foam is the way forward too! |

Nice one! Love it when someone else benefits from a recommendation! Picked up a kayak (been used a few times) from nr Pymouth using the BM (haven't got a roofrack for the 110) and dumped rancid sea water all over the roof and got completely splattered with flies - snow foam (I use Autobrite's heavy duty lance and Supa Foam) just washed it off like it wasn't even there! Great stuff. Bilberry smells nice too doesn't it?! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |
