Swing away Spare Wheel Carrier suggestions
Im concerned my Defender back door will snap at some point with the weight of the wheel and tyre and been looking into various swing away wheel carriers. The LR one is a good price as low as £150 ish if i shop around but are they any good? I also have seen mention of some have to be swung away before you can open door is that right because that would be annoying, I say a safari equip one with hi lift holder but cant find a picture of what it actually looks like does any one have it?

I fitted a safari equip one galvanised but not coated or painted looks good on a silver car, they don't come with instructions and the ones you get when you ask aren't the best but take your time and it will fit made a couple of mods to make it fit better if you get one let me know and I will post some pics. nobody is perfect but being Scottish is a start

I have one on now for about 8 years. In general good quality, but after 6 years or so at some places the coating is falling off.
No fitting instructions, a bit of fidling for correct installation. A nice thing is you can fit it right on the edge so if it swings open it does not interfere with the lights.

Could you measure distance from left edge of tyre to edge of door for me? Trying to work out how it differs from standard
