Boot storeage improvements
Thought I'd share my attempts at improving the usefulness of the boot space. I made a flat platform to go between the wheel arches that bolts in where the third row seats were fixed. Very cheap, a bought and ready but does the job, just need to add a few lashing points.

A while ago I added a Tuff Trek Kargo Karrier up top for light weight stuff like coats, cameras etc, which I've been very pleased with.

I'm currently going through something similar!

I like the tuff trek idea. I recently picked up some side cages and a chest to increase the storage ... Just need to find some time to install now.

The Tuff Trek rack is excellent on the whole, fits with no drilling. It does rattle quite a bit when empty though, but you can reduce that a lot with a couple of simple tweaks. It obscures the interior light when there is stuff in it too, again not impossible to overcome. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Looks great - might well be in the market for something similar, once I get my Defender. 2014 110 XS Utility

Sphere. If yours rattles a lot , especially when empty, put heat shrink sleeve over the slide bolts where they pass through the the metal frame, quitens the whole thing down nicely. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Tbh don’t have any rattled apart from when I put something in there and forget to bungee it in place.

Mine has rubber grommets where the slide bolts fit the frame?

Fair enough. Mine has the rubber grommets too, it the other end of the bolt where it goes through the basket, no grommet there. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Silly question. I've got a 90 station wagon with folding forward seats. Does the Cargo carrier impinge loads for passengers headroom aka no passenger if it's fitted and remove the seats?

Platform was mostly made from leftovers I had lieing around.

Two lengths of cheap steel box section bolted through where the third row seats fix. Just one bolt at each end, so Four in total. I used stainless bolts as they are exposed in the wheelarches. Those provide the support.

The platform itself is 20mm marine ply with carpet glued to the top face and aluminium angle crewed round edges. Carpet matches the defender exactly and it’s sold by some guy I see at every LR show for not much. Made them in two pieces just for ease of handling and storeage. Those fix to the steel box section with four bolts each. And that’s it really. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
