Plus a way of locking it straight. some use a rigid bar locking the ram in place. Cheers

I was thinking of creating a hydrostatic system that uses two potentimeters, one on the front steering box, and one in the rear for feedback. A steering pump with electronic valve. Have a speed input and program the system to do one of two options.
Auto, where below set speed the rear will steer opposite to the front, and above set speed will crab steer in the same direction. Off, where the front only steers manual opposite steer Manual crab steer Also have a bar in case of failure But the is i add cv to the rear, how much capacity do i lose? |

The "normal" way for implementing rear-steer on a Defender/Series is to take a front axle and cut and weld the axle tube to allow it to be fitted at the rear, then use a hydraulic ram for steering activation. It was widely done on trials vehicles back in the day.
