2.4tdci ‘08 lumpy idle
So having sold the 90 300TDi a year ago - and after significant nagging we now have a ‘08 2.4 110 SW with 56k miles

We bought it privately and it is surprisingly refinement cf 300TDi

One thing we did notice that it surges at idle - most notably once warm

Reading a few threads on here the likely suspects are

Blocked EGR valve

Vacuum Control Value

The MIL hasn’t come on which I presume it would do if it was the EGR? I will try and get the codes read...

Glad to back -

The VCV - volume control valve rather than vacuum - is a very likely suspect. Darren

Thanks for the replies and counsel

New VCV ordered from PF Jones and fitted by my 17 y.o. son over the weekend - he said it was quite straight forward having small hands clearly helps! Started on the 2nd attempt.

Also did the pump and VCV learn using Forscan s/w and 17 quid ELM327 USB thing...no DTCs recorded either... needs a good run to ensure its all sorted - that's tomorrow !

You could have just fitted it as it was with no programming. I did and everything was all good with it and self learns.
I used the same supplier and has been running really nice ever since - couldn’t fault them.

If you get it again think about replacing the MAP & MAF Sensors. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
