Does anyone here have a NAS step fitted to a Puma 110?
Despite having a couple of Land Rovers with them a while ago I'd like to get a rough idea of the tow hitch mount heights of an NAS step when fitted to a Puma 110 with a standard suspension & tyre setup. This is with the standard wheel on the back door set on the higher setting, which is slightly too high for a standard trailer. Set on the lower holes would be better, you could then also have a bigger wheel on the back door and still hitch up.

My puma 110sx utility station wagon fitted with NAS style step.
I suggest that to tow a caravan or trailer with standard height hitch it needs a further drop plate ( needs bolt holes for tow ball about 50 - 75mm lower again to be be level. I fitted one of the smaller than dixon bate adjustable hitches as on ebay for about £50. Top of fitting fixed flush with step line , alko ball hitch bolted to bottom of the adjustable plate and the two halves of the adjustable hitch in central position gives towed caravan perfect level. Also enables some plowing when offroading !! Also allows door to open and miss the raised jockey wheel on the caravan . 1981 series 3 swb gone 1986 v8 110 station wagon current 2009 puma 110 xs utility station wagon latest addition |

Thanks chaps. My current standard LR drop plate puts the centre of the 50mm ball at around 520ish which is still a bit high for our new horse trailer. I don't particularly want to go for a slider again, I've had plenty of them before but tend to find the bottom of the fixed drop plate just a bit too low and even with unworn pins still a bit clanky which is why I was thinking about another NAS hoping that the lower height may be between the two.
