Wipers not parking correctly
Hi peeps...

My wipers are not parking in the correct position.. I've swapped the motor park switch and relays, but same result..
Is there another "simple fix", other than replacing the wiper motor, which looks like a pig to get out..? ... ,-------,

It could be the wheel boxes are worn badly.

To remove the wiper motor and wheel boxes/rack it means taking the dash out. But that's not as bad as it sounds because unlike most modern cars, the Puma dash facia is really easy to remove.

Steering wheel and column switches off, radio out, centre panel out, speedo out, then undo all the screws around the edge of the fascia and the whole thing lifts out. Less than an hours work to remove it.

It's also quite flexible, so if you just wanted to to do the motor you could probably leave the steering column alone and just loosen the fascia off and pull it back enough to get access behind.

I’ve had mine out a few times, both on my current puma as well as the last one. It's actually not too bad a job if you're not in a rush !
You can do it without dismantling the entire dash but then if you’ve replaced the park switch you already know that. I seem to remember i just replaced the internals on the last one which was considerably cheaper than buying a whole new motor. Also gives you a better knowledge of how they work. The grease inside had gone solid on mine (what was left).

When you say they're not parking correctly are they parking at all ? Are they performing a full wipe ?

You’ll need you’re passenger side window open in order to draw out the motor and cable. Check wiper spindles when its out as I’ve had one that was as good as seized.
Mind you if it is the wiper spindles the. It is a dash off job and a pig of a job as everything after the dash also has to come off , misters, pipe work, insulation etc

The wipers work fine until you turn them off... Then they stop pointing straight up!!
I think I need to get the big gear with the plastic doohickey switch pusher thingamebob that fits inside the motor gearbox!!!
Anyone know what the part number is? ... ,-------,
