I agree an air rifle is the best way of dispatching grey squirrels I probably shoot around 10-15 a year in my garden.
My air rifle is top of the range and it makes a huge difference with accuracy of your shot, it is also important to experiment with different makes of pellets as this also makes a big difference to accuracy. 2016 Defender Landmark 90 2005 Defender CSW TD5 90XS |

Your quest depends on whether it is a regular squirrel or a secret squirrel

The critter doesn’t need any help from branches. It just scurries up the render like spider man. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Well, attempted to chase it out by making a load of noise, but had a spotter watching the hole and so sign of the varmint. I blocked the hole with fresh mortar. Went and sat in the room nearest and could hear something scurrying about, but sounded like it was outside on the roof. Couldn’t see anything though. So who knows, it’s either trapped in the roof where it will havoc until it expires, or I’ve successfully evicted it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Be warned, their teeth are constantly growing and they love to chew plastic - wiring insulation included. Steve.

Spray the area with Citronella, they won't like that at all. And possibly an untrasonic deterrent but they are 100% and don't do the latter if you have dogs or cats.
I think you'll find if they are built out, that'll cure your issue anyway. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

If you want to get rid of the Grey squirrels the "green" way - then you need to introduce a Pine Marten or two into your loft
