Wales 2007 Defender 90 Other CSW Trident Green
It really pays to complain...
I am not usually one to complain however recently I bought four shaker cans of Hammerite satin black and even though after using I turned the can upside down and sprayed for a couple of seconds and even took the nozzle off and cleaned in thinners the next time I used them they were blocked, and nothing would make them discharge paint it was the valve in the can that was the problem.

So I decided to complain and sent this email

Hi Hammerite

Could you please inform me how to keep a can of Hammerite satin black spray active? No, matter what I try such as inverting the can and spraying to clear the nozzle before storing the can, I end up with a blocked spray can that will no longer discharge a spray. I keep the cans indoors and clean the nozzle after each spray use. It appears with some of your cans it is the valve that blocks. At present, I have four cans that are over half full that are useless. I do not have this problem with other spray cans just Hammerite cans. It is annoying as each time I wish to finish a project I end up having to go out and buy a new can.
Any advice to unblock the ones I have or any tips would be gratefully received.
Kind Regards

This was Hammerites response:

Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing with the Hammerite spray cans. I have logged this under reference number 3000253406 if you can please use this for future correspondence.
This problem commonly occurs due to a build-up of solvent in storage. It is important to ensure the nozzle is cleaned thoroughly and the cans are stored in a cool, dry environment. You can also use a needle to release the pressure from the tip of the nozzle.
As a gesture of goodwill, I would be more than happy to replace the cans for you. I will require the following:
-Barcode from can- this will be on the back of the can beginning with 5010
-Full UK postal address
If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help.

Yours sincerely
