Heater starts alarm
My "new" defender has a webasto diesel pre heater.

When using the heater the car alarm starts after app. 15 minutes
The voltage at the time is 11.91v and the blower is running.

Has anyone had this and is there a cure

i have a webasto engine heater and int heater in mine, neither make the alarm sound.

thats with the screen demist an setting an fan on when using the engine heater

the cabin heater (Air top) has the vents directed down

Is it a std LR alarm?

is the alarm sounding for low voltage? not even sure if this is a feature?

or sounding from air movement?

are you on demist (air up) or to the footwells? or does alarm go off on both?

i am more inclined to think its voltage linked as it takes 15mins. the fan comes on when the coolant is at a certain temp, but that would happen prior to 15mins i would of thought. Cheers

I might be getting mixed up between vehicles but I thought there's an alarm/lock option that disables the interior alarm - for when you want to leave a child/pet inside?

If you lock the car by the key in the door it arms the perimetric alarm and not the volumetric internal alarm so should disable the internal sensor but keep the doors and bonnet protected.

my webasto heater air flow set the car alarm off in my '99 td5. i just pulled the wires on the volumatric alarm. locking by key didnt disable on that one. Cheers

Solved..

Pulled the plug from the volumetric sensor and now we can heat up without waking up the neighbors..

I guess the next question should be whether the sensor can be moved, the sensitivity of the OEM one adjusted or can be swapped out for one that mirrors the dual tech ones you get for conservatories?

My RRS had the pre heat facility and never set the interior alarm off so maybe the electronics disable the sensor on start up or it's a different type of sensor?

Perhaps a cut out relay that cuts the wire to the volumetric when the heater or fan is running?

Suits me fine that the sensor is disconnected, then it dosnĀ“t start the alarm if the dog moves around.
