You need to take it apart again by the sounds of it,
Check all your surfaces for damage, high spots etc. Are you using oil on reassembly? Cranks should turn “nicely” if fitted correctly, check and check again. When stripping it back down, check as you start removing bolts, to see at what point it starts to loosen up, This may then give you an idea of where the problem might be? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Had the same problem with a V8 I rebuilt years ago. I'd managed to get a small piece of swarf behind one of the main bearing shells. Cost a new set of shells but all part of the learning curve!

Check that the new bearing shells are the correct size, not undersize.

You should really be using plastigauge to check the clearances in the bearing journals is within spec
