TD5 crankshaft STUCK
Just starting to rebuld the TD5 engine after having the cylinders rebored. Fitted the crankshaft with new bearings and torqued it down according to the manual but now it wont budge. Used a breaker bar to put some decent force behind it but it's completely stuck.
Anyone had this before and know whats wrong?

P.S complete novice just having a go

You need to take it apart again by the sounds of it,
Check all your surfaces for damage, high spots etc.

Are you using oil on reassembly?
Cranks should turn “nicely” if fitted correctly, check and check again.

When stripping it back down, check as you start removing bolts, to see at what point it starts to loosen up,
This may then give you an idea of where the problem might be?

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Had the same problem with a V8 I rebuilt years ago. I'd managed to get a small piece of swarf behind one of the main bearing shells. Cost a new set of shells but all part of the learning curve!
Be lucky Thumbs Up

Check that the new bearing shells are the correct size, not undersize.
