The answer is no they are not the same. Just the thickness as mentioned before. However you can make it fit Land Rover style. I have 2003 glass in 1984 doors. The only things you have to change are all the doors internalls. As the lifting system is different you also need to use the newer inside door plate or modify the old one. And as the newer glass is thicker you need the glass guiding thing also from the new glass.

But then if you chnage to the newer door inside panel door inside door opener doesn't fit so you might have to modify that. etc. Whistle

But you can do it.
