Head gasket oil smear.
May have a problem ! Has anyone had an oil leak from the head gasket. Was checking the fuel regulator because had renewed it recently but noticed oil smear at the head gasket level right at the corner. Been checked it for about a week doesn’t seem to be coming from higher up any thoughts please.

Can almost guarantee it is the half moon shaped section on thr rocker cover gasket. Had the same myself. New genuine (Reinz) gasket and two small dabs of sealant either side of the half moon.

Thanks Steve so what you’re saying it’s the rocker gasket not the head gasket?

Yeah, the oil runs down the back of the head to the head/block join and runs down to near the FPR. Have had it myself and was convinced the rocker cover wasnt leaking but it was.

Yup as above, 90% certain it will be that half moon part of the rocker cover seal at the back of the engine.

The other 10% is in fact oil leaking from between the head gasket and block/cylinder. This was, looking back at it, the first sign that my head was warped, very warped. Took a (as the engineer stated) darned good skim to get it flat again. The other symptom to look out for is the over pressurising of the coolant system. in the head picture you can see that i cleaned the head off, took it for a drive and the oil was coming from the gasket... clean off your engine and keep an eye on it...
