They aren't particularly cheap / easy to come by but have you looked at a series style catflap? That combined with a roof / side panels would work without the need to remove the tailgate and swap to a full door, you'll still need to remove the hoodsticks though.
Worth trying a fume curtain with the soft top, it's made mine much warmer and quieter. Swapping the rope for strong elastic cord and pipe insulation on the hoodsticks also helps. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop 1989 300Tdi 90 Soft top 1992 200Tdi 90 Truck cab with Land Cruiser axles |

Do you actually use the rear load area for passengers? and do you still have a bulkhead?
If you don't really need the rear area for passengers and you have a bulkhead, then a truck cab would be a fairly easy fit, and easy to store as well as pretty cheap to buy. You could just leave the rear hood sticks in situ. or throw a canvas tilt over them. |
