Alarm Randomly going off
Well since the non-starter the other Friday I have replaced the battery and made new connections for the terminals and that seems to be working well.

But...the Alarm has been causing me some issues and if set will randomly go off waking the neighbours... 3 am the other morning. I have disconnected the spare battery in case the lack of charge it has was causing a drain on the system. Well, 30mins after setting the alarm it went off in all its glory, I was mid-sip of a cup of tea. The battery at rest is reading 12.6V so I don't think that would be enough of an issue.

I am going to replace the key fob battery just in case it is that that is causing the issues.

Any other ideas?

side note, the starting is still occasional click so ordered a starter motor rebuild kit to be safe.

It’s probably not, but check incase someone is triggering it deliberately to get you to stop setting it - ie someone is casing your Landy? Not trying to put the frighteners on you but better safe than Defenderless.

Mine did that often.
Try spraying WD40 into the door switches.
Stopped it on mine permanently.

Check the bonnet switch. Make sure it is correctly located in the bracket on the bulkhead as it is only held in place by clicking it into the bracket. Defender 90XS SW

Mine has been doing this ever since I bought it, but only when I use the the key fob to lock it. If I lock the car using the key then I have no issues what so ever. I know its not a fix but it might be worth trying until you find one

Locking it with the key doesn't enable the volumetric protection for the alarm. If this stops that alarm from randomly going off, it suggests a fault with one of the volumetric sensors perhaps (or you have the unusually large Landrover spider option).

I replaced all the door switches last year as I had an alarm issue. May have to have a second look at them.

No volumetric on mine as its an early model TD5 (2000)

Bonet switch is also worth a look. Hoping a good charge of the battery will sort it.

Mine went off twice tonight, I was thinking it could be the wind? I did rebuild the starter today though, could it be a bonnet sensor, or door? (2002, Td5)
