it looks cool,
just one question, how much will it flex under load and will it then make contact with the roof, therfore would it make sence to reduce the tolerences a little more and pad the underside so it touches the paint work but spreads the weight stops any damage and still gives you the fixing points? as you may be able to tell this is the way i was thinking of going, the only problem i had was a limited talent with metal fabrication unlike yourself. |

Interesting concept, looks well made, and very low
How will the clamp system work? Have you got some 'bolts' which will lock into the holes? Aluminium or steel? Weight Ooops a list of questions Looks like you have access to some decent metal stocks/engineering facilities Will be interesting in how it 'performs' in the field. Keep us updated and well done. It loos well supported, interesting to see what the final product will look like.
Have you though about supporting the rack from gutter above the rear door? Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

Many thanks guys for your flowers
The material I used is 3mm steel. It is bended to a U-Form, so I had a previous version of it in Northafrica. I had approx. 25kg load on that rack and we finished serveral hundred kilometers through dunes and 2500km over rough run ways. I couldn't observe any weak points on that rack. I have no pics from the clamp parts, I will keep you informed. The clamp will be bolt by 6mm screws. The weight will be about 15kg. I think, when I reduced the distance between the rack and the roof it could produce more wind noise at higher velocities. Maik |

I'm thinking about selling, but the prive can't be under 1700 pounds. there is so much handwork inside. @jont thanks, the leds are from rigids industries (USA), 80 piece of high power leds, when you switch it on, you think the sun comes up |
