You are right Thumbs Up but a good view of the other side would have confirmed it, as it is possible to weld a replacement footwell with the dip-switch hole into an 86" bulkhead.

An 88" bulkhead would have an identical hole in the left-hand footwell for LHD vehicles, with a blanking plate covering it for RHD vehicles. Can't see that on Ian's bulkhead.

Defender9, we need to go into a corner and chat before we bore everyone else to death! Rolling with laughter

I've not been on this forum for ages now, lovely to see a S1 rebuild post

I met a couple at the last Newbury sortout (oct/nov 2017) who had a stand showing their new Series one bulkheads.

They have just started out building them for the 86,88,107,109 S1s but unfortunately I didnt keep their business card, so again I would recommend a post on the LRSOC forum.

Sadly I was after mainly a serviceable S3 bulkhead for my rebuild of the wifes 88 or a line on an 80" bulkhead supplier if I get round to needing one on that (need to do the drivers door pillar this year). He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

Indeed it was, Nice chaps, the bulkheads on display looked good, but still a lot of money.

Its easy to get lost financially in refurbing an old Landy, i'm already 6K into the wifes S3, hopefully the major expenditures are behind me now (chassis, bulkhead, RM parabolics, axle and parts).

Still waiting form my refurbished bulkhead from Town & Country though, hes poor at status updates. He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

Just to update - the project is on hold for a while as neither my sister nor I have space to house it during a rebuild... sad times, but we will get round to it one day!

Interesting reading through this and seeing the comments about what 'other people' say about 'your' restoration/work.

^ agreed. I've been thinking about a restoration project but wasn't sure which route to take. Having read this thread word for word I have found it very informative.
Decision has been made, this is the criteria:-
Early example of a Land Rover.
Long Wheelbase.
Pick Up.
To be used as a daily driver.
Chassis, major components, mechanical refurb.
Bodywork to be left 'as used'.

Now the search begins. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Just be aware, S1 107" and I presume 109"s have very heavy steering and a huge turning circle. I thought I could use my 107" as a daily but it became very tiresome.
