Use roof bars instead. They are lots lighter and easier to install/remove if you need to take it off during the year. 4x4overlander sell some good quality ones Ray

As above roof bars or the Hannibal rack with no sides provides a solid lightweight base to fix to.
Nene Overland has 40% off Hannibal racks at the moment. Before getting the roof tent what will you be using the roof rack for?
On a 90 the roof is ca. 2m long which will be completely covered by a hard shell roof tent. With a 1.4m folding roof tent you need room down all sides to get cover on etc. That means you will only have ca.40 cms of rack to use. I would suggest 2 or 3 roof bars for mounting a roof tent as it will keep weight and cost down. The Cargo bear roof bars are ideal for this and are low to the roof. They can be then added to, too make a full roof rack later if required. Alternatively a short rack at front and bar at back as well Brendan |

Hello,
we use these roof bars. You can put it complete with the tent on the roof or fit it in a few minutes (10-15) on tge bars. You can use every type of roof bars for this if you have the correct mounting kit :-.). Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Regards - Markus |

Bars are fine for most roof tents so long as they have sufficient load rating. Bars which are suitable range from Mantec to Front Runner but also include most of the much cheaper transit van type bars 👍 like ULTI etc.
If going for rack avoid steel (weighs loads and always rusts under the plasticote) and go for a proper Aluminium Expedition Rack. Tip - make sure any rack you go for has T Slots (captive nut channel system) on ALL the slats and ESPECIALLY on the top of the perimeter frame as it makes mounting accessories far far easier in the future (Front Runner, Hannibal, Upracks, Desert Racks etc) |
