Mmm
That’s what I thought Just put motor, rack & wheel boxes all back with new park switch & found wipers won’t stop. The circlip seems to have fallen of the back of the motor, main spindle so I assume that’s why the park switch won’t operate. Just about to go to Alfreds to see if I can get an assorted pack of circlips but just wanted to be sure about the bush 2015 90 Hard Top 1998 90 300Tdi - chuffed to have another one 2013 Freelander 2 - for posher trips to the shop 1996 300 Tdi 90 Hard Top - sold 19th June 2020 - miss it, loved it 2016 90 Hard Top - demolished Nov 2019 by young driver 3.5 times over the drug limit 2010 90 Hard Top - now sold Ex mil 90 - now sold |

I think the motor is quite sensitive to the thickness of the circlip..
I had something similar, the original broke I think. I found one that worked, but marginally thicker. The extra resistance - certainly in my case - means the wipers won't actually operate at the higher speed. They just stay running at the first speed, and I assume the extra resistance is unhelpful to the motor. If you do find something suitable, please reply. I'd resigned myself to buying a new spindle 'cos I couldn't see it listed as a separate part - but at something like £18 (from an ageing memory) I've just never got round to it. Click image to enlarge I’ve determined, from a further search on tthNet that the nylon bush should be as per the lower pic, if it was put back as per the top pic, then this seems to push the “con rod” up to a point where it would probably catch on the motor cover plate. I bought a mixed box of circlips from Halfords (about 8 squid) and there does seem to be one that fits, on the top of the main spindle. Must say that the Halfords circlips appear to be of dubious quality as when opened with circlip pliers the clips don’t Spring back! Put the motor back with the new wheel boxes, new park switch and all cleaned & greased, it seems to be OK now Note: pic borrowed from nickslandrover.co.uk site, hope he doesn’t mind 2015 90 Hard Top 1998 90 300Tdi - chuffed to have another one 2013 Freelander 2 - for posher trips to the shop 1996 300 Tdi 90 Hard Top - sold 19th June 2020 - miss it, loved it 2016 90 Hard Top - demolished Nov 2019 by young driver 3.5 times over the drug limit 2010 90 Hard Top - now sold Ex mil 90 - now sold |
