Gentleman I'm looking to understand the Glow Plug operation on a Puma, to identify if I currently have a problem...
or one developing. I know it's been cold, but how long is 'too long' when the Glow Plug light is lit, before it goes out, and if the 'control' of this operation is faulty, how would we know, and what could cause a 'long duration' glow light operation... Mine currently is lit for around 5-6 seconds, which feels long, and I would say has extended over the 4 years I've had the vehicle... Normal or Not... Whilst I believe the approach, 'if it anit broke dont fix it'... dosn't really apply to Land Rover ownership, what is normal here, and if mine is 'lighting' up the Glow Plugs for too long, what could cause this... Could a Faulty Glow Plug 'Operation' cause a non-starting Puma... Occasionally I experience a non-starting Puma (MY 2011 2.4). She can start 50 times OK then nothing, often then immediately restarting if 'switched off' (although not running) and switched on again. I have had this 'issue' for a year, and have tried and resolve it by undertaking the following... All Main Earth Points checked (off cleaned and positively reattached) New Main, Starter and Glow Plug Relays New OEM Starter Motor New OEM Battery Key Fob Battery's Replaced Lucus 10AS Alarm (out contacts cleaned and replaced) I have No (visible) Water ingress within Dash area No Fault Codes on Scangauge II I'm about to take delivery of and fit a New Ignition Switch... https://www.lrdirect.com/LR039638-supplied...LUCAS.html So after my last year of Defender ownership I was wondering about this light... Thanks... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Thank you dorsetsmith
Perfect... I may well have no issue here as i'm < 8 Seconds (at around -3 degrees morning temp) Occasional Non-Starter May be, as I know she will be a non-starter from time to time i'm just looking around, to hopefully 'stumble' across the cause, and solve my issue. I'm continuing with the approach, change one thing and test... again thanks... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Hi dorsetsmith
If it does turn out to be the Ignition Switch...I only wish I had started there... Intermittent problems I hate...break and stay broke... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |
