Sounds like the pink (headlight) relay behind the dash has failed. same happened to mine except when switching from main to dipped beam which was interesting

It is possible to bridge the terminals with wire and a couple of spade terminals as a get you home fix

Stolen from a previous thread on here. It is the dim dip relay but it does affect the normal headlights

I'd have thought behind one of the flaps either drivers or passengers footwell. But I'm not sure as I never looked when I had a puma 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I don't think there is either a dim dip relay or a headlight relay on a puma, hence the column switches fail.
New column dip/main indicator switch and one of the advertised headlamp loom upgrades probably required. HTH Keith |

Problem solved 😁 my suspicions were correct, it’s the flash/ indicator/ horn switch the plastic has melted and is keeping the contacts apart, bent the contacts slightly to get me back on the road while I get a new switch. And yes just to clarify I did find the relay that’s in question and tested it but all was well, it’s in the fuse box under the dash. thanks, Harry NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER

Symptoms are conclusive that it's the dip/main/flash stalk switch.
Pumas without headlight level adjusters (ie all the early N1 type approved vehicles) had the abhorrent dim dip feature, the relay is in the fuse/relay panel above the driver's feet and the resitor is under the osf wing. |

Non-Dim dip ones also have the relay, however all it does is cuts the power to the headlights when you turn the ignition off. Whether you have Dim-dip or not the full power still goes through the column switch.
Just think, when we leave the EU the UK Department for transport will be free to reintroduce crap features like that. Originally the DfT wanted all cars in the UK to have dim-dip, the EU overruled them as it would have introduced disparity between europe wide type approvals, hence you don't find it on any cars built outside of the UK. |

Just for future reference, does anyone know what the other 6 relays are for in the dash fuse box? I have a diagram for the ones under the drivers seat. Thanks, Harry NO ROAD..........EXCEPT FOR LANDROVER
