^^ Blackwolf, "the cheap option if you can't afford the new Defender!"
I think you're right with that. |

To be fair, they’re hard to spot. Most look like normal ones with privacy glass. Which is the appeal, claim the vat back and it starts to look a little more attractive. Personally I don’t like them, find them a bit too empty in the back, weird I know! |

I’m currently on my second D4 Commercial, have had others in the business and had been incredibly frustrated at the lack of meaningful info from LR on the replacement.
To be honest, I think the D5 is the illegitimate son of two completely ugly things, BUT... they are a cracking drive and I’ll be looking at the inside of it for 25,000 miles a year so I may just about get around to forgiving the pig ugly rear. So why, to answer the original question...? Low personal tax, towing ability, capacity for site gear and the fact that I can turn up on site or take the Fun Prevention Officer out for dinner, all in the same vehicle... If only they had confirmed this a few weeks back, I wouldn’t have ordered the Volvo hybrid - now looking into costs and delivery dates to see if we can change the order! Of course, if they could also get their act together on L663, then I’d have a choice!!! |

So exactly the original idea of the Land-Rover back in '47. |

Maybe not the new Defender but it certainly is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new Defender in the Netherlands. Click image to enlarge Can’t wait for the new Defender to see if it will be a little more affordable. |

I'm guessing a start price of €30,000 but including 'essential' add-ons, then €35,000 is more like it. It's too rich for me, when the new Jimny is rumoured to be just €13,000! Now left.

€30K? If it's anything like the rest of the LR range, that will be for the 2 wheel drive version. ;( |

Surely a Brabus Unimog is a lot more pointless than a commercial Discovery?
I know of companies that are carefully managing their current D4 commercial's waiting for something decent to replace them with. As the replacement Defender hasn't even been revealed yet then a commercial D5 will certainly plug a gap. Absolutely it's pointless, but so is every supercar ever made, unless they're track cars. But it's about having it on your driveway! I would love a Unimog. I wouldn't actually have a D5 if you gave me one. Saw two cracking D4s today, jeez, LR made a mistake in replacing that! Now left.

AMBxx: Yes, I don't know where on earth my mind got those figures from! Starting is more likely to be €40,000 for the bare one with no radio! Now left.

See, what you've done is to stray off from opinion, and into just plain wrong. There's only one thing better than a Unimog, and that is Ms Riley herself.
