Its not condensation building up between headlining and roof is it, and running down?
My hardtop is only basic spec so only headlining in front section i.e. not over loadspace, but the amount of condensation that appears in the back is sometimes unbelievable. It almost rains in the back of mine during the winter, meaning anything in there needs covering over, to stop it getting wet!!! |

At a guess, the water could be getting in through;
Alpine windows seals, Sunroof (if you have one) seal, Cracks in the rain gutter around the roof, The roof seams. I have the same in the 90 and have narrowed it down to the roof seam. There is a water ingress manual about on the web that tells you where to look. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I only get water in the footwells on the passenger side front. After close inspection today I am alarmed to find rust bubbles already forming on the bulkhead under the windscreen to bulkhead seal near the reinforcement bracket. Its still under warantee, but do I trust the dealer to replace this seal without adding further leaks?

thanks, I'll have a look today. I can't rule out condensation as it has been pretty bad in the back.

i'd say Matt's probably right as series land roves where known for that, saying that it is a defender and it could very well be tracking its way UP from the screen wash for all we know
good look with sorting it |

Also check that the Heater air intake teets are not blocked. There are two of them and if blocked the heater intake will fill with water and leak into the passenger footwell. Took me ages trying to find where the water was coming from, in the end I found it was blocked teets. Click image to enlarge You can see the part of the heater intake grill (left wing top) in the bottom right of the picture to give you orientation. There are two draining teets arrowed red. |

My double cab had the same problem with water getting in through the roof. The problem was the sealant had cracked in the roof joints. They had to re- seal the roof joints and repaint all the roof. Cured the problem. The joints had cracked the worst on the curve of the roof but also had a crack in the middle of the roof joint.

Thanks for the help.
I have spent a hour going over the possible causes as highlighted, but I can't see anything obvious. The door seal is wet on the inside near the roof liner and I think there is too much for condensation. I'll take it in and give them some pictures as evidence. It's in next week so I'll report back. |

Firstly, thanks for all the help. The 'Leak procedure' was very helpful.
I droppped the truck in early on Monday and gave them both leak pdf documents and some photographs. I collected it on Wednesday evening. They have filled the windscreen hinges, the roof seams, the front corner seams and the drain channel seams at the top. Fingers crossed now. |
