savage, i am wondering whether to fit 35's. is there much rubbing with the body work

You need the 50mm lift and the wider arches to avoid rubbing, appears to be sufficient clearance without having to modify the bodywork further though

Cool, thanks camelman, would you have a link to the kit you used

The kit was from Glyn Lewis.
50mm front and rear spacers. https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product-categor...g-spacers/
Rear shock drop mount plate https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...op-plates/

I used Terrafirma 50mm extended arches and got them sprayed to match the body before fitting.

Were extended brake lines necessary with this set-up?

Looks hard as nails. I wonder if they would clear with a lesser offset (mach 5's) with 2" lift. Any thoughts?

Hello

I like that for looks its Thumbs Up

What's it actually like to drive? is the speedo well out. Makes a std one look a bit wimpy Smile your looks like a mini icelandic machine..

I've been looking at the sattey cages also, if ours is staying I;m tempted to have one of these fitting its just a lot to pay on labour...

thanks

The standard speedos tend to under read by quite a lot anyway.
I've meaured it on the gps and 70mph on the speed =73mph in real life.
Ashcroft do a kit for £75 which allows you to adjust the speedo reading if it's an issue.

It drives fine even at Motorway speeds, There is a little bit more 'wallow'ing around but this is only to be expected given how much sidewall height there is compared to a standard tyres.

I'm still experimenting with tyre pressures to find what works best.

I specifically chose the KO2s as I spend a lot of time in the snow and ice in the peak district over the winter. They are also very quiet on the road.

Having seen enough rolled landies, I wouldn't be without the cage.

Hank, the 35's only come in 15 or 17 inch wheels so wouldn't fit the standard Mach 5's. Given the width of the tyres, a lesser offset would work but you'd lose a lot of your turning circle.

Sounds great,

Without the wheels / tyres what sort of price is the rest of the kit needed?

Brake hoses, spacers, lift kit, arches any other bits...

Thumbs Up

The Suspension kit (spacers and shock mounts) were about £140 I think.
The brake lines were £70 +/-.
Wheel arches were £140 but I had them sprayed to match the truck at a local bodyshop.

So it's the wheels / tyres that are pricey?

Would my sawtooths take bigger tyres? or are those wider rims.

I didn't think they were that bad.

I paid around£1150 for a set of 5 including the wheels.
Could have saved £200 by going for the standard 10x15 modulars but like the look of these ones with the bolts around the outside Smile

what size are the sawtooths?

I previously ran 305/7016s on 16x 8 Mach 5s but they were ET0 offset so effectiveily 33mm further out from the body than standard boosts.

camelman, fantastic looking Defender!

What radiator muff do you have, and where did you get it from? I'm assuming you have a KBX grill under it? it's a Landrover thing...

Hello

Not sure what width my sawtooths are, they are I think 16" x 7" ?

Would they take the 285 tyres you have previously? Love the stance of your truck. Next year I may start some mods as so far it's fairly subtle... 30mm spacers Smile

Looking at roll cages at the moment as that's the one thing that concerns me carrying the children in the event of an accident. Especially coming from cars with airbags all over the place..

Does this approach lessen any strain / severe angles on the drive train (which I have heard pumas are sensitive to) or is it effectively the same (as bad??...) as putting on a 2inch lift kit - sorry if this is a dumb Q.
