United Kingdom 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
Coil spring packers
Hi all,

I have just swapped the rear coil springs on my puma 2.4 90 for some softer ones which I had spare.
These were originally front spring’s nrc9446 and nrc9447 I had spare ones so I thought I would try them out. As I know some on here have done this and got a better ride, if not carrying any excessive weight.

On driving the back end does feel less harsh, the only downside is the height at the back has dropped by about 2in 1.8in to be exact. It doesn't look to bad but I would like to raise it up slightly to nearer the original ride height.

I was thinking of using spring isolators (anr2938) top and bottom with packers on the bottom. Similar to the gwynlewis packers at 6mm thick.

I was thinking of using 4 packers per side plus the top and bottom isolators to get the height back.

Any thoughts on this ie is it feasible or should I go for the spring spacers also from gwynlewys. It’s just that packers are a lot cheaper to buy or make.

Regards to all.

You can use packers to raise the ride height. You won't get 2" back though.

Just watch out for spring retention- if you use too many you could risk loosing a spring 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2
