another strange thing....
Have just had the steering pump replaced and since then if i put full steering lock to turn left going forwards or to reverse then inside of the passenger side front tyre rubs on the chassis.

its fine when full lock is done to the right.

When driving in a straight line the steering wheel is slightly to the left.

Are there limit stops that might have come off?

Anybody have any advise?

The arm could have been refitted in a slightly different position, you could either reposition so it doesnt happen anymore. Or adjust the stop locks

How could the arm be out? Kerbed? Pot holes?

Should I have the tracking done?

Two comments-

1. If it was the pump that was replaced rather than the box (as the OP states), the drop arm won't have been touched. Adjusting the drop arm cannot cause tyre rub if the lockstops are correctly set anyway.

2. Other than the lockstops, the only thing that could cause this is if the tie rod has been adjusted to alter the tracking. If it has been shortened to reduce toe-in, tyre rubbing could ensue.

I suggest getting the tracking checked then adjusting the lockstops correctly.

the tracking was miles out. they adjusted it and now the wheel doesnt catch.

gut they also found that the track rods? rubber was split on both sides and the big wheel ball joints seem to be leaking grease.

Are there any drawings of the td5 steering system so i can identify the bits?
