You could have TWO for the price of a forthcoming (if ever) Defender! Damn, I'm tempted, as I'm not sure I want to wait any longer, and to have one for me and one for Mrs Puddle is so tempting. To be shown at Tokyo show later, and imminent in Suzuki showrooms. Click image to enlarge |

Much better than the outgoing model. I like the more utilitarian shape. Definitely does look more rugged. Wonder if there will be a "farmers spec" version I would be happy to throw my muddy labradors into.

We are just waiting for the final spec to be released and if comparable with the one we have now it will be being ordered. Jimny may be small but it kicks butt! Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Popped in to a local dealer near Maidenhead today to register my interest, but the guy didn't seem to know what I was talking about. He even said it was two years away and Japan would get it way before us. That's not the talk on the net. Still, sat in a current one and was very impressed. Incredibly small, though. Watched a YouTube video last night of a Jimny and two Defenders green-laning. The Jimny got through some really tough terrain on a path that had been abandoned. Never even thought about owning one before, but given that JLR have taken a pathetic age to release the new Defender, and given that it will be £35,000+, then I think I'm smitten.

It's easily the most versatile car i have had the opportunity to use. By turns it is a farm workhorse by day and a wizzy little hothatch on a weekend. It is a matter of knowing it's limits, it will never be a people carrier nor a tow barge for a big trailer, so what? It's every bit as component off road assuming you drive to its strengths of smallness and lightness. It may be showing a bit but I love mine! Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I am also a fan of the Jimny and drive them regularly. Couple of downsides to the current model. First is they are very thirsty. Secondly they have a rather narrow track - good for narrow field gates but by same token, they roll over too easily.

I know mine is good on fuel by the average as I get low 40 mpg but even so most are in the low to mid 30's, unless they are overly modified? But either way they are not really thirsty not in the upper mid 20's way that a defender is. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
