transit using oil
For any of the mechanics on here can anyone point me to the possible cause of our Transit using oil?

Every so often, it appears to use a huge amount of oil, there are no leaks its parked on a block paved drive which is totally clean, I've followed it regularly on the road and it doesn't smoke at all.

Its a 2010 fwd 2.0 diesel 102k miles

My only thought is there is some kind of breather getting blocked intermittently and pressurising the crankcase?

Any thoughts?

Cheers Keith

Hi Keith

Have you had a look at the turbo impeller, and checked the shaft for movement?
They generally don't suffer from blocked breathers, but that all depends on how it's been maintained.

I've done a few high mileage ones where the turbo has let go and started using excessive amounts of oil,
But These have been 200,000 miles plus,
at 100k I wouldn't expect it to be the case?

Have you got much pressure with the oil cap off?
No leaks around inlet manifold, turbo?

Tricky to say without actually looking/listening to it. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Thanks Ian,

FMDSH up to 3 years ago at about 80k, and we've done it since annually every 8 or 9k.

Since buying it we found out it had been a parts delivery van for a Ford main dealer, so probably thrashed everywhere.

Hopefully finding time to service it this weekend so will check turbo & crankcase pressure and report back.

Again thanks for your input.

Keith
