It’s been a bit quiet on the Project Grenadier front of late, maybe they are waiting for the new Defender hype to die down a bit. Looks like they are looking to get it built in Wales. Be at least a little good news for Bridgend workers if this comes to something.

It went quiet for a while, but things seem to be picking up a bit. Maybe they were waiting for the New Defender to break cover.
Having seen a virtual prototype ( https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69029.html ), I am really getting excited about this, I just hope there are sufficient customers for what I reckon is going to be an excellent, but pretty niche a vehicle. This could be really good for those interested in over landing, remote travel, tough work trucks etc, but are there enough of us to make a car like that a success? Price will be crucial too which could be tricky if volumes aren't really high. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

They have just announced that the car itself will be called Grenadier, so it's no longer just a working title.

Based on YouTube the videos released today, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkUPNBqPbOYuanFuh1RDfLw , we know the following:
Body on frame construction. What appears to be solid axles front and back. Possibly with the big HD hubs like you get on the big US pick ups Triple diff locks: front, centre and rear Potential for massive ground clearance based on prototype in the vid BMW 6 cylinder Engines. Petrol and diesel option. 8 speed gearbox, probably means it’s an auto Aluminium body Not much to grumble about there. I’m worried the price is going to high though. All that HD hardware in low volume vehicle does not suggest a low price. I reckon we are going to be looking at £40k+ if not more. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
