Hello Kit
Depending on Spec', i'd say possibly the answer is yes...but don't rush to spend your money. On the left was my 300tdi, with 120K on original seats, the foam inserts were just showing signs of needing replacing, (losing shape and foam 'powdering' up / breaking down). On the right is my 2.4 Puma, with 30K on original seats. I was told (by Land Rover) that the foam used post 2007 (Puma >) is slightly stiffer. It's marginal, but I'd say this appears to be true. What I do like and does make a difference, is my newer seats have a higher back and this together with the taller side elements, help to give the feeling that you are sitting 'in' rather than 'on' these seats. The Leather / Alcantara V's Cloth / Vinyl also helps to lift things... Click image to enlarge I was perfectly happy (and comfortable) with the 300tdi Seats, but the 'evolution' of changes in the Puma Seats (Foam (if true) and height) and Material Finishes (depending on Spec') is an improvement. A good friend has a TD5 and I'd say these seats feel like my 300tdi, (someone on here will know) So may be more of a 'perceived improvement' than a 'significant' one, but in any case I'm happy to be sitting where I am now. Wife says 'definitely better'...so there we have it SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Just refoamed my TD5 drivers seat and it's a vast improvement on the old foam! Not sat in a more modern defender so can't offer any opinions there I'm afraid.

You're still not talking Range Rover levels of comfort, but yes the standard Puma ones are a little better than the earlier ones. However The foam does wear and split along the side bolsters.
It's probably cheaper just to buy uprated foams and covers from Exmoor and improve your exisiting seats. I think they do improved padding and trim for the earlier seat frames. |

Ever since i bought millie, 300Tdi, the original seats have done me proud, i was use to them and thought this was good until i put a set of xs seats in ( in under what did you do in your defender today section ) and what a difference, they are sooooo comfy and will not be going back to the originals very quickly i have never sat in a newer defender so i dont know 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

I found the Puma XS part leather seats just gave me a numb backside as the base is now too short for the extra depth in the back of the seat.
Replaced with extended seat bases. Greater height is a pain, but much more comfortable. If anyone would like to buy my old seat bases, they're in the for sale forum. |
