Can't wait for this trip especially after the video which was posted on here it just get the taste buds going ,I have been trying to sort out my CB,I bought a Midland 42 hand held from 4x4cb.com some years ago and have been hopeing to contact them with no luck ,are they on holiday or gone bust ? I need some parts. It is a handy bit of kit as it seem to fit in any car here it is in my daily driver.

I'm hopeful I can make it and this sounds ideal, third time lucky as the last two outings I have had to Salisbury Plain have resulted in repair bills, one minor and one ... not so much |

I was out there most of yesterday. Nice after the rain as it kept the dust down.
Quite a lot of mil activity. And I managed to get (another) puncture |

Punctures can happen anywhere (although out there you get a lot.... flint or old 5.56 shells)
Damage to your vehicle... depends on how much poo you want to drive through, or if the red mist comes down... same as anywhere really. |

Punctures and tyre cuts are always a concern with greenlanes sadly.
Around here it's normally dumped rubbish being the root cause. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

In fairness the first one was a broken rear mudflat bracket - hardly a shock on an 11 year old Defender. The second was a ruptured brake pipe - more worrying but by this point the car was 12 and it was totally unrelated to the off road activity. |

Gents
Whats the buy in here ? My 110 is as standard as a very standard thing and my off road tool kit consists of a penknife and a few cans of Stella so I need to know if standard issue would cut the mustard. If so I may drag the old man along, he's thinking of swapping his DS for a deafner so this should seal the dealio... Thanks Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

You should be fine, there is not much a standard Def won't conquer anyway.
If you've got some kit bring it, if not don't worry there will be plenty. Mainly in case of emergency not for deliberate use. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Pretty much what he said.
I too have a very standard 110. I have self recovery gear but much prefer to not use it. I am past spending a day winching stuff out of holes. 1995 Defender 110 CSW 1971 SIIA Lightweight |
