In my experience, behind speedo GPS = no, GSM mobile = yes.

Yes I do have the speakers but they have not interfered with the signal. In fact both units have magnets on the rear that help with fixing, so obviously magnets do not cause a problem. The GPS antenna for my stereo is just under the top of the dash. Works a treat.
