what piece do you need to buy extra for the alloy wheel if you are going Mantec? i am going to get one at some point when the funds are back up and what is the best way to seal off where you have drilled? ( when you remove the rivets on the capping) Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Hello Procta
Alloy Wheel... It depends on what you have, if they are Standard LR Alloys, that fit Standard Hubs and Wheel Stud Pattern, then your Alloys will fit the Mantec. If you have an Alloy that requires a Hub Adapter to give a different PCD Stud Position, then you just need to replicate this on the Mantec. If your Alloys are non Standard they may have an Off Set (ET Value) then this needs to be factored in as well. To keep it simple a Standard LR Alloy (and Stud Pattern) will Fit the Mantec...if you have any kind of Spacer / Adapter fitted then take one off your Defender fit it to the Mantec and check your Spare fits OK...get creative if it doesn't. Sealing the Two Holes... The holes are through a combination of materials that form this junction, The Aluminium Body Panel (Birmabright) and the Steel used in the Cappings. I just used a body colour touch in kit, getting the paint in between the layers as best as possible before they were 'clamped' up with the Mantec Bolts. You could use a product like AFC 50 here instead (much praised on D2N ). I also added a short flat Al' 'Strap' behind the left hand hole (from the inside) to spread the loading and bring the two holes to a similar condition...not really necessary but it just felt better. You say "unfortunately" but I think £160 vs £238 sounds a reasonable saving if it is the exact same item?

Of course, but it's unfortunately a lot more than £125, which was the suggestion. Darren

Careful, that's VPLDR0130 for steel wheels only, that's why it's cheaper, I believe it fits differently and you can only use it with upto 235/85/16 tyres 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW
