GPS and Mobile signals
Not sure if this is daft, but could a GPS receiver and or a mobile phone arial work if fitted under the dash or behind the roof lining or side panels. I would think the signal would be stronger if attached to the windows or screen, but don't want to advertise the fact. I would presume under the seats in the seat box would not work as to much steel and ECU could interfere, also under the bonnet engine may disrupt the signal. Is my thinking way off? your thoughts would be welcome. Thanks in advance. Regards
Dennis.

In my experience, behind speedo GPS = no, GSM mobile = yes.

I have a GPS receiver and mobile arial fitted behind the rear quarter light trim panel and both work fine. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Thanks for that. Gilarion, do you not have a speaker there? as I would have thought that would interfere with the signal. Regards
Dennis.

Yes I do have the speakers but they have not interfered with the signal. In fact both units have magnets on the rear that help with fixing, so obviously magnets do not cause a problem. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Thanks for all your answers. So it looks like I am fine fitting anywhere in the cabin attached to the aluminium panels. Regards
Dennis.

The GPS antenna for my stereo is just under the top of the dash. Works a treat.
