2001 Defender 110 Td5 Tomb Raider LE Bonatti Grey

Will my Oil pump bolt fail?

Gents,

I have a 2001 Defender TD5 Tomb Raider with 120k kms on the clock now. I am aware that early Td5s had a fault of oil pump bolt failure leading to catastrophic engine damage which was addressed in later TD5s and I recently came across a video on you tube reminding me of just that.

I have had this from new, does my model year falls under " Early TD'5s" my engine is 10p. Is my 110 on of the affected ones?

I heard that the fix is to remove the bolt and apply loctite to it? Do I need to do that or am I covered?

I am not sure that yours is in the danger range, but probably not as if it didn't fall out till now it probably won't fall out anymore unless off-course you hardly use it.

It is not that much work however to make sure it is right. Roel

I had a 2003 Td5 and the oil pump bolt came loose at around 90,000 miles.
Luckily the local indy spotted it before it caused serious damage!
