Are these the most boring set of images ever taken (copied from an Argentinian Land Rover Web Site)
Obviously there is not a lot for Land Rover owners to do in Argentina, except look at gauges and dream of re taking the Falkland Islands......... ![]() However it has got me wondering if anyone has got pictures of the following I would be interested in seeing a series of pictures showing a dipstick with varying oil levels. ![]() Or perhaps a series of pics showing the gradual colour change of the coolant as antifreeze is added in millilitres ![]() I would also like to see a series of images showing a land rover clock at every minute position ![]() I am also considering starting a thread with pictures of a tyre at various pressures. ![]() A sequence of photos showing a jam jar slowly filling with brake/clutch fluid during brake bleeding would also be worth seeing I feel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

It's a while since I drove a Td5, but I never did trust the fuel gauge. 300 miles = time to look for a filling station, 350 miles = call rescue service.

It's nice to see the fuel guage going the other way for a change.

The Defender one on the left? is a lot more accurate than mine. I reckon 3/4 is actually about 1/2, and after 1/4 you can almost see it going down.

No. I would actually like to see a similar set for a 2.2 Puma, just to see if anyone else's is as non-linear as mine (apparently they are all like that sir

I wondered what response these pictures would generate.
![]() And no one has grasped the significance: lol: To be fair, that series of photos uploaded from Argentina gives a well-composed and important insight into the accuracy of a fuel gauge, ![]() It also goes to show how a gauge if Land Rover would have incorporated a more dynamic needle with a wider arc of movement to give more precise and therefore more reassuring visual readings of the remaining contents of a tank of fuel, and so allowing for the true magnetic north in your part of the northern/southern hemisphere and the effect of the slight magnetic fluctuations this would cause a slight ellipsoid and not a slight deviation of the needle in accuracy. ![]() So using this formula E = {x 2 En | kAxk = 1}, and the geometric significance of all Lode lane Land Rover engines and allowing for orthogonal changes, I can now say that the accuracy would have a Mean Curvature and an integral curvature of twelve cms per lunar night. I think if you carefully study the time lapsed photos you will see that I am spot on with this measurement. ![]() For anyone who does not understand the above I can only say you need to continue to be a member of this forum for at least another month read all the posts and then realise to own a Defender you have to be either totally mad or at the very least sane and willing to wave at every other barmy owner you come across on the road. ![]() ![]() ![]() For those who do not have a working fuel gauge I can only say Comic Relief has a fund please apply. ![]() And for those who know what I mean including those from the Argentines then well I do not have to explain. ![]() Personally it does not matter to me as I cannot afford to fill my tank each week with more than I fiver anyway. ![]() ![]() http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |
