With the TdF kicking off today, just wondering if anybody is planning to watch a stage? I'll be attending Stage 9 in the DC, trying to get somewhere up the Mont du Chat:

Most of my pedalling is around the dales on this Wilier although I have a Specialized fixie, a Pashley Guvnor, a 1930's Coventry Eagle and a Marin MTB to choose from. I prefer spectating in Italy though 🚴🏻♀️  Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

These lovely ladies were part of the Italian team in the womens Giro di Toscana, a great event.
We were based in Lucca. There's a narrow road around the top of the city walls, about 4km's long. Evenings and weekends see many fully kitted out Italians of all ages cruising round and round on beautiful Bianchi's, Pinarello's, Wiliers, Cinelli's etc etc. Great fun.  wishing I was their.
Ridden most of the Alps following them in years gone by. Parents are lucky having a house in Annecy they did a time trial past Lake Annecy one year. For anyone who have never been the tv really does NOT show how steep some of the cols are !! and they go on....and on.....and on..... The atmosphere being there is amazing, love it

We have one of those just the other side of our village. The pre-Alpes dont look very high from here but the road goes up and up and up via endless hairpins with deadly looking precipices to the side. If you make it to the top on two wheels you are treated to a panorama of Provence in its entirety and the massive Mont Ventoux in the distance. Its hugely popular with cyclists as is this whole region and has featured in the TDF and the Paris-Nice in the past. You can still see a fading Lance Armstrong painted on a cliff face halfway up. I'm always amazed by the age of the cyclists that attempt it. From behind you cant tell but as you drive past you realise that fit looking bloke is in his 80's at least!
 I prefer to stick to 4 wheels and a motor.
I wont be going to watch them this year. Closest they come is about an hour away this time. They've been very close for the last few years and my nearest town has been a host start or finish town several times since we've lived here, but to be honest all the cheating has put me off and more importantly its too bloody hot to stand around for hours waiting for a bunch of blokes on bikes  |
