Best thing i ever did if i`d kept it any longer i would have set fire to it Just waiting for the new Defender if they ever make one. Their ok as a toy or second car but doing over 30K a year in one is no fun |

Cheers Pete, looking forward to another visit - remember Marie still wants first dibs if Lily has pups. (We lost the German Shepherd earlier in the year, so Megs lonely)

Talking of the D4, I had one for 24 hours whilst Big Black was at the dealers being reminded what it's lights are for, and, if I'm honest, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be.
Having said that it could have been because it was a well used and abused rental in dire need of some TLC. The father in law has a D3 (replacing with a D4 in March) and that seems to drive a lot better, despite having 140k on it. Last edited by warren on 25th Feb 2011 1:35pm. Edited 1 time in total |

The D4 is why I brought a Defender , I looked at one and I might of just brought another Full Fat.
Yes the defender is slow yes I miss the D3 smoothness however I have other cars for those things theres something about the defender but I'm dammed if I can work out what |

You've hit the nail on the head Ken - couldn't agree more.
We bought the D4 to go down to a single car family, especially as we live in Northern Germany, I go to Afghanistan on Tues for 6 months and the wife didn't like driving long distances in the Defender. The D4 is a fantastic car, buts its a bit characterless. AndrewS summed it up as a 'crap suit' compared to the Defender being a comfy pair jeans and scruffy t-shirt. I'll almost certainly miss the comfort but I buy into the Defender brand and enjoy the ownership. |

Agree totally - something special about Defenders.
I've had other fast, comfy cars and a couple of Range Rovers (never owned a Disco) but keep coming back to Defenders. The current two Raiders are much more fun to drive than Discos and RRs. Now its time to buy a new sensible, practical everyday car - the only option was the new 110 which is on order John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |
